We all came together this week to mark World Mental Health Day and show our support for young people’s mental health.
It is estimated that 70-80% of children and adults with autism have experienced poor mental health in their lifetime. At St Dominic’s, we have recognition from The National College for our training offer and a mental health award from Innovating Minds.
We are proud of how well pupils and students can be supported during experiences of poor mental health through counselling, ELSA, drawing and talking, our PAT dogs, healing together and other interventions.
This week we looked at how we can break down barriers and misconceptions, working towards an understanding that experiencing poor mental health can happen to anyone and the importance of communicating how we are feeling.
