St Dominic’s staff battle it out in our annual Football Enrichment Event

The annual Señor Hector Alonso Martinez Charity Shield took place last Friday. Lower School came into the game needing a win to get revenge for last year’s narrow defeat.

Both teams started well, with very few clear cut chances. Upper School took the lead through a deflected cross from Mr Paiano. Half time 1-0.

In the second half, Lower School started brightly but a quick counter meant that Mr Arthur had the easiest of jobs to pass the ball into the net. Upper School 2-0.

With hopes diminishing, quick thinking from a rebound meant Mr Cottam pulled one back for Lower School. With momentum on their side, Lower School managed to grab an equaliser with the help of Mr Perry.

With time running out, there was a chance for Lower School to win it but a dodgy bobble meant Mr Gowens couldn’t quite put it away. Penalty shoot out needed.

Well played to the Upper School team who ultimately won 4-3 on penalties.

Thank you to everyone who took part, including our wonderful supporters and commentary team.
