St Dominic’s Residential Closure Proposal

The school recently consulted, between Wednesday 30th January 2019 and Wednesday 20th March 2019, on a proposal to close the residential care provision at St Dominic’s School.

The rationale for this change is to ensure the future financial viability of the school.  It would also address a need from local authority commissioners for additional day places. The capacity of the school would therefore increase from 110 to 150.

We would like to thank those of you who took the time to respond and provide feedback. Please click here to view the final Consultation Report.

The report will now be sent to the Regional Schools Commissioner at the Department for Education for review.  If approval is granted, the change will come into effect in September 2020.

The residential special school provides highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good. The actions of the school contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people. Ofsted – March 2018
