Sixth Form develop important life skills in the Hive!

Adam and Ewan from 6th Form have been busy creating a student accommodation set up in the 6th Form Hive. They have transported a bed down form main school and assembled it independently after negotiating a tricky staircase!
After a very successful scavenger hunt to source any old furniture they could find, we now have a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and a coffee table ready to upcycle and use to furnish the bedroom.
Important life skills are being developed including learning how to put flat packed furniture together, problem solving, measuring space and floor plans and teamwork. Students are also learning about the cost of living independently and ways to save money. As a result of this, they have decided to learn how to upcycle furniture by sanding, filling and painting.
