Safer Internet Day 2025

Safer Internet Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year Safer Internet Day covers online issue or themes that speak to the things young people are seeing and experiencing online. The 2025 Safer Internet Day theme was: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.’

Pupils in lower school joined others across the United Kingdom in a live lesson from the BBC. St Dominic’s pupils joined Joel Mawhinney and Maddie Moate as we stepped into the virtual world of Scam Smashers!

In this exciting game, pupils outsmarted digital tricksters to protect their personal information. Classes worked together, used their detective skills, and made it to the end of the Live Lesson to beat the scammers once and for all!

Pupils and students in Upper School watched video case studies and had discussions about a number of Internet Safety Topics. These included online games, being approached by strangers online, spoofing and scams.

Three young people offer video ‘confessions’ about their experiences of online abuse. These are three real people, describing their actual experiences. Pupils and students were able to discuss these experiences and summarise their advice for dealing with online abuse.

A great day was had by all. Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Internet Safety Day.
