Autumn Term
In the first half of the autumn term, students focus on organisation skills by planning and running a full-day event called Culture Day. This project encourages them to celebrate diversity, explore different traditions, and create engaging activities that showcase global cultures. It’s an opportunity to develop leadership and time-management skills while working collaboratively to deliver a meaningful experience for the school community. A potential trip to a food market will provide inspiration for authentic cultural experiences and ideas for the event.
In the second half of the term, the emphasis moves to planning with a creative and immersive project titled Life Simulator. This activity challenges students to take part in a simulation of real-life scenarios, such as budgeting, career choices, and everyday decision-making. It aims to develop practical life skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities while encouraging students to consider the responsibilities and challenges of adult life. A visit to the town will help students gather real-world insights into services, costs, and lifestyle options to incorporate into their simulation.
Spring Term
The first spring project focuses on planning a lunchtime event called Games Arena, where students will create a fun and inclusive space for board games and social interaction. This task develops organisational and interpersonal skills, as students consider logistics, promotion, and engagement strategies. A trip to a board game café will provide inspiration for game selection and event layout.
In the second half of spring, students engage in a physical project: Garden Development. This hands-on activity involves designing and improving an outdoor space, which promotes teamwork, creativity, and practical skills. It also encourages sustainability and environmental awareness. A visit to a garden or DIY centre will help students gather ideas and materials for their project.
Summer Term
During the first half of the term, the emphasis shifts to teamwork with a practical, creative project: designing and selling 3D key rings. Students will work together to manage production, pricing, and marketing for a one-off stall or sale. This activity introduces entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving, while reinforcing collaboration and communication skills. A visit to local shops will help them research trends and pricing strategies.
Finally, in the second half of summer, the focus shifts to exam and stress management. Students will create resources and activities around revision guidance and well-being, supporting themselves and their peers during exam season. This project emphasises resilience, empathy, and practical strategies for managing pressure effectively.
