Alumni picnic celebrates success and lasting friendships

By Gemma - September 22nd, 2026 | Posted in Article, News

Former learners returned to St Dominic’s School for a special summer alumni picnic, bringing together leavers from 2013 through to the class of 2025 for an afternoon of celebration, reflection and reconnecting with old friends.

The event provided an opportunity for alumni to share their achievements and experiences since leaving school. Many former learners are continuing their education at college, studying subjects including agriculture, professional cookery, public services, creative media, art, healthcare and tree surgery.

Others have embarked on apprenticeships and internships in areas such as motor mechanics and healthcare, while many are working or volunteering across a diverse range of sectors including retail, hospitality, transport, education, gaming, arboriculture and football.

It was wonderful to hear that several alumni have applied to University for September 2026, while others are already progressing through degree courses in subjects ranging from psychology to accounting. Among the success stories was a former learner who is set to begin a degree apprenticeship with the Bank of England.

Beyond education and careers, alumni shared personal milestones including moving into their own homes, buying their first properties, passing driving tests and purchasing their own vehicles. It was particularly heartening to learn that many former learners have maintained strong friendships and continue to support one another long after leaving school.

The afternoon was filled with fond memories as alumni caught up with staff, reminisced about their school days and celebrated their journeys since leaving.

It is always wonderful to hear from our alumni and we are incredibly proud to see all they have achieved since leaving school.

You can hear from some of our alumni about how St Dominic’s School supported them and what they have gone onto:
