St Dominic’s School is a well-known and highly regarded special school in Surrey and stands in 56 acres of wooded grounds with ample space for recreational and outdoor learning activities. The school caters for up to 184 pupils and Sixth Form students between the ages of 7 – 19, who have a range of academic abilities and complex needs. It is owned and run by Orchard Hill College Academy Trust.
At St Dominic’s School, safeguarding is our highest priority and is central to everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where all pupils and students feel valued and protected. Our safeguarding policies and procedures are rigorously implemented and regularly reviewed, and all staff receive appropriate training to ensure they understand and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities. We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of our pupils and students at all times. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at St Dominic’s, and we take this responsibility extremely seriously.
We offer access to an extensive range of GCSE subjects pitched at individual students’ levels. Within the Sixth Form, students are able to access external college placements as part of their personalised holistic education and therapy provision.
The School has an in-house team of qualified therapists offering Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration. The range of therapeutic support available to pupils and students enables them to access the curriculum at an appropriate level, maximising each individual’s potential for achievement. Additionally, there are purpose-built medical facilities where nursing cover is provided on a daily basis by qualified staff.
The School has achieved Advanced Autism Accreditation, the prestigious Arts Council ‘Artsmark’ Silver Award and the Primary Science Quality Mark, and is an Online Safety Certified School.
Our experienced and specialist staff will make every effort to assist your child to make the most of their time at St Dominic’s, ensuring that they benefit fully from the holistic programmes and educational opportunities offered to them. The nurturing, yet appropriately challenging, personalised environment encourages growth and development towards independence and preparation for further education and employment.
