Great excitement at St Dominic’s!

22nd May 2015

On Friday 22nd May the majority of St Dominic’s pupils, students and staff, accompanied by a number of parents have headed off to London to attend this year’s Comic Con convention in London. Knowing the pupils and students at our school, the staff came up with the idea of a trip to Comic Con as an incentive to reward consistent good behaviour. There was great excitement during the spring term when the proposed trip was announced to everyone and there have been many conversations about what the pupils and students will wear, as part of the fun is to dress up as your favourite comic book character.

For those who know nothing about Comic Con, it is:

The London Film and Comic Con is a convention held annually in London that focuses on films, cult television, gaming, anime and comics. In the past, the convention had guests that had included actors and actresses from film and television series including Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Heroes and others. The convention holds a large dealer’s hall selling movie, comic and science fiction related memorabilia and original film props, along with free guest talks, professional photo shoots, autograph sessions, displays.

May 2015 Rewards Trip

We were not sure what the villagers must have been thinking this morning as pupils and students headed down the drive to the waiting coaches which were parked nearby at the Village Hall.   They would have seen, Mario, Jeff Lynne from ELO,  Demon-fighting knight, a very impressive looking character from the computer game Assassins Creed, (he might be mistaken for the real deal) and of course The Doctor himself.

A few of the younger pupils opted for a more relaxed day and have gone off in the school bus to visit Marwell Zoo.

We are being kept appraised of events by staff and by all accounts everyone is having a great time.  After half-term we will update you on the wonderful stories and experiences of the pupils from the day.
